Privacy Policy

EquitX Markets, Corp. (“EquitX”, “we”, “us”) operates joinequitx.com, a batch marketplace for live-event inventory. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the marketplace, how we use it and the choices you have.

• Account data: email address and name, provided through Clerk when you sign up.
• Budget and transaction data: the maximum budgets, seller prices, listings and orders you submit, together with the resulting clearing-price assignments.
• Payment data: processed by Stripe. Card numbers and bank credentials are never stored on EquitX servers; we retain only the tokenised reference and the transaction amount.
• Product analytics: pseudonymous usage events captured through PostHog so we can understand how the marketplace is used and where it can be improved. Signed-in events may use an opaque account identifier; we do not send your Clerk email address or name to PostHog.
• Authentication metadata: session and device information from Clerk, used to keep you signed in and to detect suspicious activity.
• Organizer event data: organizers provide event, venue, category, inventory, floor-price and scheduling information. The current release does not collect ticket files, transfer credentials, QR codes, or barcodes.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type and basic device information collected automatically when you access the marketplace.
• Cookies and similar technologies: used to keep you signed in and to measure product usage. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

We use the data we collect to:

• operate the marketplace and run the batches;
• compute allocations and customer outcomes at clearing;
• authorize and capture customer payments and record captured sales; organizer settlement is handled manually outside the product;
• prevent fraud and abuse of the platform;
• comply with our legal and tax obligations.

The auction book is sealed while a round is open: no one, including the event’s organizer, can see who is bidding, how many people are bidding, or what they are bidding. That changes once you complete a purchase. A settled, paid ticket is a completed sale. The organizer of that event becomes a recipient of a limited set of your personal data about it. This works the same way any ordinary ticketing platform identifies an organizer’s own buyers to that organizer.

Once you hold a confirmed, paid ticket to one of an organizer’s events, that organizer can see, for its own events only:

• Your name, email and self-declared date of birth, if you've provided one.
• Confirmed paid ticket count and amount paid, per event and summed across that organizer's events.
• Your first and most recent confirmed purchase dates and which categories you bought.
• Whether you held an order in a settled round you were not allocated a ticket in.

That organizer never sees:

• Your maximum budget or any value it could be reconstructed from, in any form and at any phase, including after settlement.
• Anything about a round that has not settled: no identity, no count, no participation signal of any kind.
• Your activity on any other organizer's events.
• The raw order book or any individual order.

An organizer may also see an anonymized, aggregate distribution of what buyers paid in a settled round for a category, published only when at least five distinct orders were recorded. It is never a value that could be tied back to you individually.

An organizer that accesses this data is a recipient of your personal data, not merely a counterparty to a sale. Organizers may use it only for their own event operations and their relationship with you as a buyer for support, fulfillment and marketing their own future events to their own past buyers. They may not resell, broadcast, or transfer it to a third party. This obligation is part of the agreement every organizer accepts to sell on EquitX and survives the closure of their own account. Every CSV export an organizer takes of this data is logged: who exported it, when, the exact scope requested and how many records it covered.

Date of birth is the one field on this list you supply yourself and fully control: it is never verified and you can remove it at any time from your account privacy settings. A removed date of birth stops appearing to organizers immediately, though it does not retroactively change a CSV export an organizer already took before you removed it.

EquitX relies on the following subprocessors. Each is bound by data processing terms equivalent to those described in this policy:

• Clerk: authentication and account management.
• Stripe: payment processing.
• PostHog: product analytics.
• AWS: infrastructure.
• Vercel: application hosting.

Transactional records are retained for as long as legal, tax and accounting requirements demand. Account data is deleted on request, subject to those same retention obligations for past transactions.

Separately, an organizer’s view of its own buyers has its own, shorter retention: a settled round stops appearing anywhere in that view. This includes the buyer list, a buyer’s detail page, CSV exports and the anonymized budget distribution. The limit is 24 months after it closes. This limits how long an organizer keeps seeing you as an identified buyer; it does not delete the underlying transaction record, which EquitX itself retains under the obligations above.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• request correction or deletion of that data;
• opt out of the sale of your personal data. EquitX does not sell personal data to third parties;
• receive a portable copy of your data in a structured, common format.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below. You can withdraw your self-declared date of birth yourself at any time from your account privacy settings, without needing to email us.

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated through the marketplace or by email. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
